New CDC COVID-19 recommendations

You may have heard that the CDC has updated its guidance for individuals diagnosed with COVID-19. You can find the details on the CDC website.

In short, if you contract COVID-19, you should:

  • Stay home for 5 days.

  • If you have no symptoms or your symptoms are resolving after 5 days, you can leave your house. (Fever is a symptom)

  • Continue to wear a mask around others for 5 additional days

  • Refer to the link above for more detailed guidance for individuals EXPOSED to COVID patients.

Because younger children who contract COVID-19 are often unable to wear masks effectively, we recommend they follow the previous recommendation of isolating for 10 days following onset of the illness. Keep in mind that wearing a mask is one of the few ways that we can protect many of the children in our lives who aren't able to be vaccinated.
